Hometown Diner Reviews
Amazing place and amazing people! Had a great time dining at this place. Food was delicious with appropriate portions size. 10/10
This was the first restaurant I visited after arriving in Saskatoon, and the taste was really impressive. The portions weren’t very large, but just right, and the food was very delicate, looking great in photos. The staff were very enthusiastic and polite. Fried Chicken Pancake (21): The fried chicken was crispy with a slight spiciness. The pancakes were very fluffy, with blueberries that burst with juice when cut. The addition of syrup made it not overly sweet, perfectly complementing the chicken. Hometown Burger (19): We added a sunny-side-up egg (1.5). The burger patty wasn’t particularly thick or juicy, but the bun was very soft, and the sauce was just right, making the overall taste very harmonious. Additionally, we ordered a Drip Brew (4) and an Americano (4.25). Both coffees were of high quality.
We've recently been to hometown diner for brunch. It has a nice and pleasant vibe with lots of live plants and holiday feels. We were seated immediately. We had the Greek veggie Benny with a side of soup of the day- red pepper and tomato soup. We also had the blueberry pancakes with lemon zest and butter topped with maple syrup The food was very appealing and was just as good. We enjoyed everything. Kate and Brandon were attending our table, and they both were great! Loved everything about the place, looking forward to our next visit
We had a great experience at Hometown Diner! Service/Atmosphere: The service was top notch, really friendly and positive staff. There was a great relaxed energy there! Food: The food was great and I loved my latte, too. We got the Huevos Rancheros and the Salmon Eggs Benedict and both were delicious. I enjoyed my Salmon Eggs Benedict and I've honestly never had asparagus cooked perfectly. The hashbrowns looked so good but were a bit underseasoned. However, I'd rather that than over seasoned generally because I can always add salt myself. Wait time: It was no surprise this restaurant was busy and the wait time was short, considering. If you find yourself in downtown Saskatoon, definitely check it out!
We had a great time at Hometown Diner! The open layout provides ample life to the background of your meal, ensuring a nurturing communal dining experience. I had the salmon eggs benedict, and my wife tried the blueberry pancakes. Both dishes were a treat and we will be back!
A new place for brunch I enjoyed. I have got my favourite breakfast stuff - pancakes. Thick and pretty strong style pancakes given me a new taste. I had and made thick soft sponge pancakes, totally different texture. During our dining, the background music was quite loud, I have little difficulty to focus and listen what my friend is talking. Decorating is fantastic and comfortable, a bunch of green hooked up from ceiling. So far I like this place and willing to have my pancake journey.
The food and service of Hometown Diner is excellent! We have never been disappointed. They do not however take reservations and so this can be an issue if you are from out of Saskatoon and hope to get a table. It is however an indication of how popular the place is for its food if you cannot get a table! Overall a wonderful place for brunch and lunch.
Braved the frigid temperatures (-30) to go have brunch at Hometown Diner. Was expecting it to be not as busy as they normally are on weeekends given the weather — but yet, this place was still bustling, and for good reason! We arrived just after 12pm (2 people) and were able to get a bar top spot right away. Service was EXCELLENT constantly full cups of coffee, very attentive. We tried a few dishes: 1) Fried chicken & pancakes (22) — I had previously been SUCH a fan of their chicken and waffles dish, and knew they had recently changed up the plate to have pancakes instead. The chicken is still EQUALLY as good as before (so good), and the pancakes had copious amounts of blueberries — no shortage at all. Very impressed with the size of the meal. 2) Chicken Bacon Club w/ Hasbrowns (20.50) - this sandwhich is a hidden gem. The zucchini in this sandwich is the key! I was skeptical but I’m SO HAPPY we gave this one a shot. Added some hot sauce on it for extra kick. Melty goodness. And so many hashbrown potatoes! 3) Brekkie Bun (16) - my partner didn’t wait for the photo-opt... so all I have is a photo that shows how THICK this bun was. I don’t eat eggs myself, but he told me that this was very good (and once again came with a huge portion of hashbrown potatoes). Great job to Kara and the team at Hometown! Thanks for the excellent food & service.
